January 11, 2002: The First Detainees Arrive at Guantánamo
The first detainees arrive at Guantánamo, officially beginning operation of the detainment camps at Guantánamo. Reports that come in from Guantánamo Bay state that Muslim inmates are forced to shave off their beards but there is no available evidence of how the inmates are being treated at Guantánamo Bay.
